Production-Ready Kia EV is Closer Than You Think

We here eat Elk Grove Kia know that the automotive world is on fire right now with electric cars. It seems these days as though every automaker and their cousin is releasing a new hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or pure electric, and Kia is no different. Specifically, the South Korean automaker recently released the Kia Optima Hybrid to great success, and now they're stepping their "Green" game up with an EV that blows the competition out of the water.

Officially coined the Kia Ray, the new concept vehicle was recently unveiled at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in La Vegas, Nevada. It boasts a 50-kW electric motor powered by a leading-edge lithium polymer battery pack, and it can achieve about 86 miles on a single charge. But the real kicker with this new EV is that it can recharge in as little as 25 minutes on a 220V outlet. In other words, down time is a thing of the past with this all-electric model. What's more, the quick-charging battery is expected to carry a ten-year lifespan, so you can expect a healthy amount of use when the time comes to finance or lease it.

And just how far off is that option? That's the most exciting part of this electric vehicle's unveiling! In showing off the all-new Ray EV concept, Kia claims that it's actually quite close to production.  How close; they didn't actually say. But you can bet that the automotive experts here at 8480 Laguna Grove Dr. Elk Grove, CA 95757 will keep you updated on its progress.
